For our global Functional Substrates and New Applications department within the centralized Research & Technology (R&T) headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland we are looking for a


R&T Engineer - Functional Substrates and New Applications

Switzerland - Winterthur - 100%

Your responsibilities

  • Develop new and improved materials, processes and products in the fields of thermoplastic and thermoset polymers

  • Produce demonstrators/prototypes and develop processes in our Technological Center

  • Contribute to technical resources and directions to R&T Projects

  • Ensure thorough documentation and appropriate communication of project work

  • Summarize results and present them to the technical team and project stakeholders. Coordinate material characterizations with the internal laboratory

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant H&S policies and procedures

  • Carry out patent and literature searches in a regular and systematic manner

  • Support the commercial introduction of new materials, processes and products within CBU, DEC and Operations teams

  • Build a network of internal and external contacts with universities, institutes, suppliers and customers, focused on delivering innovation and build technology ownership

  • Participate to Autoneum global expert network community

  •  The tasks may require travel abroad 

Your qualifications

  • Master or PhD degree in materials science, polymer science, chemistry, chemical or process engineering

  • Knowledge of polymer technology, such as compounding, extrusion, foaming, composites manufacturing

  • Experience in applied research within the domain of technical responsibility

  • An organized individual, capable of combining hands-on work with analytical thinking 

  • The ability to prioritize workload with a flexible approach to work is required

  • Experience in Automotive business is considered a plus

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of German, French or Chinese are an advantage
