Your responsibilities

  • You will work with Plant Management in developing a strong understanding of the local business and associated needs.
  • Manages the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including issue resolution and sharing of end-user feedback (R-Score).
  • Supported and guided by Technical, Category and Lead buyers, develops a strong understanding and knowledge of the suppliers delivering and servicing their Plant(s)/Legal Unit and understands their capabilities.
  • Ensures a proper supplier/Plant relationship to secure continuity of goods and services supply that meets the quality and delivery performance standards of the company and acts as first escalation level support in case of quality and logistic issues from APD Gate 5 on.
  • Identifies key business opportunities in both direct and indirect buying and contributes with the responsible Central Lead, Category and Technical Buyers in the definition of the most suitable purchasing strategy.
  • Drives the implementation of Global/Regional agreements and initiatives that apply to Plant spend

Your qualifications

  • Candidates MUST be highly proficient and competent in the SAP environment.
  • A University Degree, a Degree in a Purchasing related subject and / or a professional qualification is highly desirable in this role, e.g. having achieved full member status of CIPS
  • Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills
  • Accustomed to working at pace in a deadline-driven environment - robust and assertive
  • Proven strategic purchasing experience (3 - 5 years) of direct and indirect commodities from within a blue chip Tier 1 automotive or high volume manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of implementing Lean Techniques, TPS (or similar), TS (IATF16949) standards
  • Evidence of successful change management programmes
  • Strong people and process manager and able to demonstrate good awareness of team working and collaboration
